Introduction

The Zoom!® Professional Whitening System (Zoom!®) is one of the newest ways to whiten your teeth and brighten your smile.  Zoom!® is a bleaching process that safely lightens discolored teeth.  It is quick and easy.  The process can be completed in your dentist’s office in just over one hour.

Symptoms

Zoom!® is ideal for people with discolored or darkened teeth.  Coffee, tea, wine, colas, and smoking are leading causes of tooth discoloration.  Over time, they can make your teeth appear darker, yellow, gray, red, or brown.  Additionally, certain antibiotic medications and excessive fluoride use can cause tooth discoloration.

Diagnosis

Your dentist can determine if you are a candidate for Zoom!.®  Your dentist will review your dental history and examine your teeth.  Your dentist will determine the present shade of your teeth by comparing your teeth to a color chart.

Treatment

Treatment with Zoom!® takes place in your dentist’s office.  The procedure is quick and comfortable.  It can usually be completed in just over an hour.  You can relax or watch TV while the procedure takes place.

Your dentist will place a protective covering over your lips and gums before the Zoom!®  You will also wear protective eyeglasses.  Whitening Gel is applied to your teeth.  The Whitening Gel contains hydrogen peroxide.  A Zoom!® Whitening Lamp is focused on your teeth to activate the hydrogen peroxide.  The Zoom!® light helps the hydrogen peroxide to penetrate your teeth and break up stains and discoloration.

Zoom!® produces dramatic results in a short amount of time.  Zoom!® whitens teeth an average of eight shades.  With proper care, your teeth can always remain lighter than they were before.  You should brush your teeth twice daily and perform regular tooth flossing.  Your dentist can provide you with Zoom!® Take-Home Gel for occasional touch-ups.
